Nadia Reid’s Xmas Show 2022 Lineup Announced

Nadia Reid’s Xmas Show 2022 Lineup Announced

A star-packed treat for southern gig-goers, Nadia Reid has announced her traditional annual Xmas Show will take place at Port Chalmers Town Hall on 16th December. Presently based in Auckland, the globally acclaimed Dunedin-raised songwriter is returning to her spiritual home of Port Chalmers for the festive celebration, joined by friends including long-time collaborator and guitarist Sam Taylor (who Reid will perform with on the night), songwriter / producer extraordinaire Sean James Donnelly aka SJD (whose new album Sweetheart has just released), US-based folk artist and “world-class boot maker” Flora Knight, and DJ Tina Turntables on the decks. Befitting the spirit of the season, proceeds from the event will go to a great cause too, as Reid explained…

“It has been my goal from the beginning to treat this annual event as a way to mark time, to bring together a hand-picked selection of my favourite musicians, people, winemakers, brewers, and food. It really does feel like a community affair. Each year a portion of the profit is sent to the Presbyterian Support Food Bank on Moray Place. It really is the highlight of my year!” — Nadia Reid

Press release:

Critically acclaimed Auckland-born, Dunedin-raised musician Nadia Reid is continuing her annual tradition at the Port Chalmers Town Hall. Nadia Reid’s Christmas Show, now in its fourth (would be fifth) year, is a festive celebration of local music, artists and talent, under the backdrop of Reid’s spiritual home – Port Chalmers.

Now residing in Auckland, Reid has been diligently working on her fourth album before embarking on a new chapter and settling in the U.K. Her third album, Out of My Province released on the cusp of the pandemic was received hotly by critics. The Line of Best Fit declared it Reid’s “most polished album to date” with Uncut calling it “her best album yet”, awarding it 8/10.

Reid has completed three European tours with long-time collaborator Sam Taylor, performed several times in New York City, and completed countless tours of New Zealand and Australia including her recent collaboration with classical ensemble NZTrio. In between recent Covid-19 lockdowns, she completed an Opera House & Theatre tour of Aotearoa with her 6-piece band, and a 20-date “Reid & Ruins” tour with Tiny Ruins’ Hollie Fullbrook.

This year’s line up will include award-winning artist, producer and current University of Otago ‘Mozart Fellow’ Sean Donnelly AKA SJD, legendary Oklahoma, USA based folk musician & world-class boot maker Flora Knight, and keeping you tapping your toes throughout the night will be the incredible DJ Tina Turntables. Nadia Reid will also perform, accompanied by her longtime collaborator and guitarist Sam Taylor.
