During her Perspectives collection, Ms. Giddens sheds light on the shared history of a wide variety of musical traditions all over the planet, the sophisticated history of Black impact in American music, and far more. Beginning in October, she is joined by multi-instrumentalist and regular collaborator Francesco Turrisi for an personal concert in Weill Recital Corridor that attracts on numerous musical sources—such as American and Italian folk tunes, early Baroque tunes, classical preparations of African American spirituals, unique music, and deconstructed arias—to showcase the fluidity amongst classical and popular songs.
